Ben, the best man stood up to give his speech. With all eyes on him, he started off by giving some context. After he married Madelyn’s sister, his friend Jake started hanging around a lot more (specifically, when Madelyn was around). One day, Jake had spent the night and woke up the next morning with the idea that they should all go to breakfast. After breakfast, Jake asked to borrow a shirt and then suggested they all go to the movies. After returning home, Madelyn and her sister stepped out of the room and Ben knew that Jake wanted to chat. “Did you want to ask me something?” Ben asked Jake. Jake paused, and after a moment replied “I just want every day to be just like today.”
And I cried, because that was just about the sweetest story I’ve ever heard in a speech before. But I also wasn’t surprised, because Madelyn and Jake are two of the sweetest people I’ve ever met.
Later in the speeches, Madelyn’s dad shared one that had everyone laughing, then crying, then laughing again. As he began to wrap up his speech, he ended with “There’s never a good time to give your daughter away. But I would give Madelyn away to Jake over and over and over again”.
It’s almost hard to describe a day that was as perfect as Madelyn and Jake’s wedding day. How happy the bridesmaids were to be there, how easy the groomsmen were to work with, and how sweetly in love Madelyn & Jake are. This celebration was one that was pushed back through the pandemic, but was even more exciting because the journey brought them closer together.
Madelyn and Jake, I love your love for each other and how it shines so clearly to everyone around you. You two are so loved by the people closest to you, which just shows how genuinely wonderful you two are. I probably have never cried as much during speeches as I did at your wedding, because each one was so meaningful. It’s been a joy to get to know you two over the past couple years and I am so, so thankful for that! It truly was such an honor to work with you two and celebrate the most special day with you!
